WHAT IS LAMINATED GLASS?
Laminated glass is exactly what it sounds like - glass made up of multiple layers. Specifically, it is constructed from two layers of standard glass with a layer of polyvinyl butyral (PVB) plastic in between them.
This thin plastic layer holds the two layers of glass together and increases the strength and toughness of the laminate, making it more resistant to both impact and temperature changes. Laminated glass is a safe option for many projects.
THE BENEFITS OF LAMINATED GLASS
The key benefit of laminated glass is safety – it’s stronger than regular glass, and therefore less likely to break. If it does break, the thin plastic layer is designed to hold the broken pieces together rather than letting them shatter into dangerous shards that can cause injury.
Its strength also makes it longer lasting, and it is a better insulator than standard glass. It can easily be tinted to suit your needs, making it a great choice for projects that require coloured or printed glass.
